Eagle Fun Days: Wet And Wild Parade

by Aaron Catt on June 12, 2009

wet-and-wild-paradeLast year I took the family down to the Eagle Fun Days ‘Wet and Wild’ Parade;  What a BLAST! If you haven’t been to the parade, you need to go!  The event starts 12 noon on Saturday, June 13th.

The ‘Wet and Wild Parade’ is a colossal water fight between the general public the Eagle Fire Department.  The general public is armed with super-soakers, water cannons and squirt guns of every imaginable type.  The Eagle Fire Department of course is armed with their full arsenal of fire engines and fire trucks as well as a few infantry with large squirt guns!

The turnout for the event is quite large and the atmosphere is really fun!  Everyone is a good sport and even if you don’t want to get wet, you should come down and watch (from a distance).

Tips For The Wet and Wild Parade

  • Get there early- Parking is plentiful, but with the large attendance, if you show up late, be prepared for a walk.  Here’s a map of the parade route. Remember, the parade starts at noon!
  • Bring LOTS of water!-  Water isn’t supplied by local merchants, so bring a few buckets and wagon carry your ammo.
  • Water Cannons Work Best!- You’ve seen them, they’re the same things that rafters use in their water battles, they’re easy to fill and they shoot a long way!
  • Be prepared to get wet!  While the Eagle Firefighters don’t totally unleash the full force of their water hoses, a little bit can go a long way.
  • Be a good sport!  No one likes a bully, so don’t choke on a gallon of water and get angry, it’s all about the family fun and everyone attending is there to have a good time!
  • Visit local vendors- While you are waiting for the good times to get rolling, visit a local vendor and help stimulate the economy.
  • Pack out your trash- Last year I was a bit amazed at how people can walk away from their trash, not cool, take it with you or throw it away when you leave.

The Wet and Wild Parade is only one event of the entire Eagle Fun Days weekend and there are a ton of other great things going on from Carnivals to Food Vendors.  Make sure you take the entire family, especially the little ones, they’ll love it!

Great article – I think the adults have more fun at the water fight than the kids do!

If you remember to tell your wife not to wear white during this event- you might score a few points.
